How do I take my measurements?

Use a non-stretch tape, standing upright, wearing thin underwear. The tape should sit close to the skin without compressing it.

Bust

Around the fullest part of the bust, keeping the tape level across the back. Breathe normally — do not hold your breath.

Underbust

Directly under the bust, around the ribcage. The numeric part of a bra size derives from this.

Waist

At the narrowest point, usually a few centimetres above the navel.

Hips

Around the fullest part of the hips, feet together.

Common mistakes

• Measuring while seated — always stand.
• Pulling the tape tight; if it dents the skin, it is too tight.
• Measuring once. Take each measurement twice; if the two differ, repeat.
